Edward D. Barnhill, Jr. is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP who practices in Columbia in the areas of real estate development, finance, estate and probate work, and commercial transactions that involve environmental concerns, construction defects and closely held corporations. Additionally, Mr. Barnhill has many years of experience in representing general contractors, subcontractors and landowners in negotiating and litigating construction contracts and land survey issues.
A member of the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Barnhill is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Barnhill lectures at continuing legal education presentations on boundary disputes and survey matters, access and roadway rights, water boundaries, and commercial leasehold disputes. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association.
Mr. Barnhill earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973 and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Administration from Furman University in 1970.
