R. JEFFORDS BARHAM graduated from The Citadel with a B.A. degree in 1981 and received his commission in the U.S. Army. After serving several years as a field artillery officer, Mr. Barham was selected to attend law school under the Army's Funded Legal Education Program. He received his J.D. degree in 1989 from the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the bar in the same year. He later earned his L.L.M. degree (Military Law) at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's School in 1993. Mr. Barham served in various worldwide assignments as a Judge Advocate including tours as a military prosecutor and defense counsel. A veteran of the Persian Gulf War, he retired from active military service in 2001 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Barham joined Barnes, Alford, Stork & Johnson in 2001 and practices in the areas of construction and business law. Mr. Barham serves on the Military Law Section's Council of the South Carolina Bar. He is an active member of Ashland United Methodist Church where he chairs the Stewardship Committee, serves as an officer in the United Methodist Men, and works with the church's Boy Scout troop. In his spare time, Mr. Barham enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
